The StudentsApp: from information-app to PA
During its four years of existence, the StudentsApp has undergone a real transformation. Whilst in the beginning our focus was set on helping educational institutions switch from website to app, we now help them in the transition from app to PA with the new StudentsApp. But what does this mean exactly?
From web to app
Smartphones are becoming increasingly more important in our lives. As a result, a few years back many organizations began to realize the importance of offering an app. Through an app, customers could easily access information from their smartphone at any moment. Because of this, the switch from web to app was made.
For students, the StudentsApp meant a much easier way to access information. Instead of having the information spread over multiple systems, it is now conveniently accessible in one overview. It was never so easy to view personal information on your phone.
Inform, inspire and involve
In the beginning, the StudentsApp was primarily used as an information source for accessing timetables, study results and news. Not much later, we expanded the app with new features such as notifications, study progress and attendance.
We soon realized the need for further innovation of the StudentsApp. For that reason, we added features which help inspire students and make them feel more involved. For example, students can now easily give feedback in the app as well as be inspired through the gamification feature which inspires them achieve certain goals.
A personal assistant
After many sessions with educational institutions and students, we came up with the idea to further expand the features of the StudentsApp. The renewed StudentsApp was to become a true tool which facilitates students in becoming more successful during their studies. A personal assistant to help them reach the finish line, obtaining a diploma.
Context of information
The PA aspect of the renewed StudentsApp is noticeable in a few ways. For example, on the dashboard, students immediately receive information about study-related matters such as their latest study results, upcoming classes or useful study tips.
In addition, the app goes beyond just showing information. Students now also get to see the context of the information. For example, if a student fails an exam, the app will not only show the grade, but also the option to register for a resit, a contact person for guidance or relevant content.
By interlinking the information in different places, it is easier for students to find what they need and to successfully complete their studies.
A total package which gets you through your studies
In addition to the information provided by the educational institution, there are also other sources that can help students during their study time. To offer students more, we are now working on an option that allows you to directly purchase summaries and books via the app and a talent feature with which students can find an internship, part-time jobs or entry-level jobs.
